He is currently on leave from The New Republic and is now a guest scholar at the Brookings Institution where he’s working a new book on liberalism.

· Editor of The New Republic since November 1999.
· He writes TNR’s weekly “TRB column”, which also runs in NY Post.
· He also writes a monthly column for The Washington Post, and has written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Financial Times, The Boston Globe, The Atlantic Monthly, Newsweek, and Time, where he is a contributor. He also appears on several other television networks.

EDUCATION:
Graduated from Yale University in 1993, winning both Rhodes and Marshall (declined) scholarships for graduate study at Oxford University. Also a graduate from University College, Oxford in 1995 with a masters of philosophy degree in international relations
