· Syndicated columnist since 1987 with column featured in 200 papers including the Boston Globe, the Baltimore Sun, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, and the Washington Times.

Undergraduate degree from Barnard College, Columbia University, with honors

· Moved to the national desk to cover the Justice Department, the Supreme Court, and—in the waning days of the Bush administration and the first two years of Clinton's term—the White House.
