Southern Methodist University is located in Dallas and will be the site of the George W. Bush Presidential Library, expected to open in 2013. SMU is a private university with about 11,000 students. Its current endowment is approximately $1.1 billion. From 1984 to 1995, R. Gerald Turner was Chancellor of the University of Mississippi. He was Vice-President at the University of Oklahoma from 1979 to 1984 and taught at Pepperdine University from 1975 to 1979.
