PREVIOUS:
· Joined Washington Times in 1982, four months after paper was founded as chief political correspondent. Appointed assistant managing editor the following year, and managing editor in 1985.
· Joined the National Observer, a national weekly published by Dow Jones & Co. In 1963. Covered national politics and the civil rights movement before being assigned to cover the Vietnam War in 1965. For the next decade, he was a foreign correspondent, based in Saigon, Hong Kong, Beirut, and London.
· Joined the Commercial Appeal in Memphis in 1956
· Stated in newspaper business in 1951 as a 10th grade student at Little Rock High School, working nights as a copy boy and later a sportswriter & and assistant state editor at the Arkansas Gazette .
