Info: Our guest is Madeleine Sackler, director and producer of the new documentary "The Lottery." The documentary tells the story of how children are chosen to participate in charter schools in New York City. You follow the path of four families from Harlem and the Bronx who hope to get their children into the Harlem Success Academy and out of the New York public school system. You also visit community and school board meetings where the charter school system is debated.
Madeleine Sackler is a 27 year old filmmaker based in New York. She previously co-directed "Mechina: A Preparation." She was part of the research team for the Martin Scorsese film "Shine a Light." Ms. Sackler is a graduate of Duke University.
